Itinerary
Monschau regularly hosts activities in and around the market square, during which the center is made traffic-free. If this is the case during your stay, you are required to follow the alternative travel route to reach the property. Keep in mind that in Germany snow tires are mandatory in winter weather conditions!
Normal travel route (from Brussels, E40)
- Follow the E40 towards Liège, then towards Aachen – Verviers and take the Eupen exit (N67).
- From there, follow the road in the direction of Monschau. At the border crossing (Mutzenich) continue to follow the L214 towards Monschau.
- At the next traffic circle in Monschau, take the 2nd exit (= Laufenstrasse) and follow the street going downhill until the turning point at the very bottom.
- Now take the cobblestone street (= still Laufenstrasse) to the left of the covered parking lot.
- You now continue down the narrow and winding cobblestone street, past the “Red House” until you are obliged to turn left (= Rurstrasse).
- Turn into this Rurstrasse until you reach the market square and take the street right next to ‘Café Caulard’ up. This is the Unterer Mühlenberg where you will reach the vacation apartment 150 m further (house number 23, on the left).
Normal travel route (from Aachen, E40)
- Exit: Lichtenbusch – Monschau. Turn left towards Monschau (B258), pass Roetgen and then in Imgenbroich at the roundabout take the 2nd exit towards Monschau (258/399).
- At the next traffic circle in Monschau take the 3rd exit (= Laufenstrasse) and follow the street going downhill until the turning point at the very bottom.
- From here you can follow the above steps from point 4.
Alternative itinerary
- Coming from Eupen, follow the straight track toward Monschau through the High Venn and past the German village of Mutzenich until you reach a roundabout.
- At this traffic circle in Monschau take the 1st exit (= Burgring) and follow the road downhill. You now disregard the signposts to Monschau and its parking lots.
- The road becomes very wide at the bottom and then goes uphill again. At the top you will see on your left above a hedge an illuminated advertising sign of Hotel Aquarium, turn left there (Alter Weg).
- Follow this road past Heidgen, Grindel, Kierberg and finally Unterer Mühlenberg, where you stop at the house (house number 23).
